Ashton Community Center Information

Guiding principles for new rate schedule

  • Fairness and equal treatment of all users of the community center
  • Encourage use of the community center
  • Community Center should move toward paying for itself through user fees and donations
  • Should provide clear expectations of those who use the community center

Fees

  • Switch from a base hourly rate to a base two hour rate ($25/hour to$55/2 hours in the case of the gym rental for a weekend).
  • Weekend rates different in order to cover the cost of overtime by city staff.
  • Fees for all rooms were lowered in order to encourage use of rooms - group noted that most revenue comes from the gym.
  • Flat fee for the kitchen was set and if parties plan to use kitchen, will have to pay fee, regardless of the way in which the kitchen is used.  Kitchen use is required when serving food in the gym.
  • Eliminates in-kind waiver
  • Provides for the opportunity of additional set-up time with no charge if the space is not reserved for an activity. While providing this perk, set-up time with no charge is not guaranteed.
  • Establishes a category for regular groups at a specified amount per person, contingent upon approval by city council.
  • Adds minimum deposit amount

Discounts

  • Fee discount for fundraiser only. With lower fees, organizers would pay same amount depending on whether they are for profit or nonprofit.
  • Provides criteria for what should constitute a fundraiser in order to help city council ensure fairness to all organizations and groups. See rate form for fundraiser criteria.
  • Establishes clear guidelines and expectations for users organizing a fundraising event.

Rental Form

  • Building Use Guidelines, and Rental Agreements all amended to provide clear expectations of center users.
